Positive Input Ventilation
Banish condensation and mould with Positive Input Ventilation (PIV). It’s the most effective way of curing and preventing condensation, dampness and mould. Installed in over one million homes, PIV is the UK’s most popular method of low-energy, whole-home ventilation.
What causes condensation and mould?
Before the days of double glazing and loft and cavity wall insulation, humid, stale air would escape through ill-fitting windows, doors and lofts. And would be replaced by fresher, colder air.
But with the introduction of energy-saving insulation measures, there is no natural escape route for the moist air caused by our daily routines of showers, boiling kettles, cooking and drying clothes.
And simply breathing. A family of four will produce approximately four pints of water per person every day. That’s over 100 pints of water vapour a week, which has nowhere to go. It’s now trapped inside the home. The result is condensation and mould on windows and walls. Along with poor air quality.
Unfortunately, if you have damp and mould in your home, you’re more likely to have respiratory problems, allergies or asthma. Damp and mould can also affect the immune system.
But help is at hand
PIV systems are pretty straight forward to install (usually in the loft). And by improving the circulation of clean, drier fresh air within the home, Positive Input Ventilation is an energy-efficient method of preventing condensation and mould from appearing in your property.
Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) is the name given to a ventilation system or unit which transforms a stagnant and stale atmosphere into a fresh, healthy and condensation-free environment.
PIV also improves indoor air quality in other ways. Filtering the air that enters the house from outside, reducing pollen build up in late spring and early summer.
And reducing the volume of often harmful chemicals known as Volatile Organic Compounds given off by new furniture, carpets and cleaning products (which can irritate the eyes, nose and throat, and be harmful to health).
Why do you only install Nuaire PIV Units ?
Invented by Nuaire in 1972, the technology is now installed in over a million homes. It’s tried and tested technology.
PIV is trusted by social housing providers, new build developers, private landlords and homeowners alike.
It is a cost-effective, whole-house ventilation system designed to provide a healthy living environment in your home.
Nuaire’s PIV units are incredibly energy efficient; that’s been a big focus for us ever since we started installing such devices
The Drimaster-Eco range takes existing PIV technology a step further, effectively tackling the problem of condensation dampness whilst using up to 20% less energy than other brands on the market, meaning lower running costs and life cycle costs.
